FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Rick Springfield Concert Brings In $83,000 for Local Hemophilia Organization ![]() Rick Springfield backstage with the winner of an autographed guitar. Columbus, OH – April 15, 1010 – Rick Springfield, who is most known for his 80s hit song “Jessie’s Girl,” recently played a show at the LC Pavilion in Columbus where all the proceeds benefited the Central Ohio Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation. Between corporate sponsorships and ticket sales, the event grossed around $83,000 and came very close to completely selling out of tickets. “Most people don’t even know what hemophilia is,” says Executive Director Rob Alexander. “So we wanted to do something a little out of the ordinary that would reach more of the general public than something like a walk or a golf outing might.” Springfield, who has no personal connection to hemophilia, further helped the cause by reducing his performance fee, donating 15% of his merchandise sales, and raffling off a guitar that he signed for the winner during a backstage meet-and-greet. The Central Ohio Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation is dedicated to providing education, advocacy, and support programs for people with bleeding and clotting disorders and to driving innovations that lead to a better quality of life for its consumers.
