Leadership Development

Our chapter is dedicated to developing the leadership skills of its teenagers and young adults.  If for no other reason, we invest in them because they are likely to be the leaders of our organization in the future.  We even reserve spots on our board of directors for the most passionate, driven, and dedicated young men and women.  The following are programs we have in place to develop leadership abilities:

Youth Advisory Council

16 - 21 year olds are invited to apply for a position on our Youth Advisory Council.  This group meets 4 times per year to provide input to the leadership of the chapter and to discuss ways in which youth can get more involved in the activities of the chapter.  [ more ... ]

National Youth Leadership Institute

Each year, one person is selected to represent the Central Ohio Chapter at NHF's National Youth Leadership Institute.  Young adults, ages 18-25, who have demonstrated leadership skills in their community, are eligible to apply to this program. After participating in training, Youth Leaders are responsible for implementing youth events focusing on prevention/self-empowerment in their local areas. Mentors, who are local chapter/association representatives, provide guidance and support. [ more ... ]

Eagle Expedition

Eagle Expedition is Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan's newest camping program for young adults aged 16-24 who reside in Michigan, Indiana or Ohio.  This week-long adventure to the Trinity Mountains of Northern California will feature activities such as white water rafting, rock climbing, ocean fishing and sleeping under the stars. The objective is to work with young adults in the bleeding disorders community to further develop their leadership qualities while providing a memorable experience they will carry with them for the rest of their life. [ more ... ]
